And getting to us is easy: Little Staughton is just off the A1 near St Neots, on the Bedfordshire–Cambridgeshire border, so it’s a clean run whether you’re coming down from the north or up from London.

It’s a working grass airfield, not a terminal. You park a short walk from the aircraft, meet your pilot, and you’re flying. No security queues, no shuttle bus, no car park the size of a small town.

Who travels to us?

More or less everyone within an hour’s drive, which covers a lot of good ground.

St Neots and Bedford are on the doorstep. Huntingdon, Cambridge, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Kettering and Peterborough are all within easy reach. Further out we get people from across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, plenty from north London, and a steady stream from Cambridge, both about an hour away.

What is the flight actually like?

The product is called the Extra 300 Experience, and it does what the name promises. You get about sixty minutes with us in total, of which twenty to twenty-five is airborne: loops, rolls, and as much or as little of the tumbling stuff as you fancy.

The aircraft is an Extra 300, registration G-ZXEL: 300 horsepower, two seats in tandem, and the same type flown in competition and display flying the world over. You sit up front. Your pilot flies from behind, talks you through every manoeuvre, and hands you the controls if you’d like a go. Nobody’s going to make you pull a single G more than you’re happy with.

How do I get there, and what about the weather?

Aim for Little Staughton Airfield, Bedford, MK44 2BN. You’ll come off the A1 near St Neots and follow the country lanes in. It’s well signed once you’re close, but the last stretch is proper Bedfordshire back-road, so contact us for directions if your sat-nav gets shy near the end. Most people find it easily enough.
